SRI LANKA: Father Sritharan Sylvester, Caritas head of Batticaloa diocese, has asked the government to allow NGOs to manage the relief work for flood victims. “I find it is difficult for the government to do relief work alone, therefore I appeal to the government to allow NGOs and other aid agencies to come again to do the relief work,” said Father Sylvester through media. It was reported that the recent flooding in northern and eastern Sri Lankan had killed at least 23 people and displaced over 325,000 people. The homeless people are now lodged in 502 camps.
