More than 200 graduates of a social teaching course received their certificates this week in Cheju diocese. Bishop Peter Kang U-il said the social teaching program aimed to condense the Church’s teachings on prayer and reflection on the life of Jesus Christ, adding that the classes have drawn positive praise throughout the diocese. Alexander Moon Duck-young, president of the Catholic Lay Apostolate Council in Cheju, said he had anticipated only 100 students would successfully complete the course, which began in March. A total of 252 have so far completed the training. The program included lectures from retired Archbishop Andreas Choi Chang-mou and others on individual responsibility in matters of the environment, the promotion of peace and incorporating Church teachings into daily life. Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
