Pope Francis is to visit the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 25 November. The news was announced by European Parliament President Martin Schulz and was confirmed by the Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi. Francis is to address members of the European Parliament during a solemn session.

The President of the European Parliament “this morning informed the Conference of Presidents, made up of the leaders of the political groups, that His Holiness Pope Francis has accepted his official invitation to the European Parliament,” according to Lombardi.

It will be a brief one-day trip and "does not affect" the Pope's acceptance of an invitation from French President Francois Hollande and others to make an official visit to France.
