Pope names Archbishop Rosales as special envoy reporter, Manila

Pope Benedict XVI named retired Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales of Manila as special envoy to the 10th plenary assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences. The assembly, which will take place in Vietnam from November 19 to 25, will mark the 40th anniversary of the FABC. Held every four years, the November meeting will gather around 100 bishops, theologians and Church leaders in the region. With the New Evangelization at the top of the agenda, the bishops are also scheduled to discuss issues including migrants and refugees, indigenous peoples, population, religious freedom, threats to life, social communications, ecology, laity, women, youth, Pentecostalism and vocations.
