An activist today accused politicians of “misuse of the state budget” in pocketing public money.

In Jakarta, Uchok Sky Khadafi, coordinator of the Indonesian Forum for Budget Transparency, said political parties no longer serve as a pillar of democracy. Instead, they are corrupt and act only in their own interests.

“People begin to lose faith in political parties. There is almost no change regarding people’s condition. Millions of people remain captivated by poverty because of political parties’ acts which tend to be corruptive,” he said.
