The Catholic Military Ordinariate will look into reports that a Benedictine nun is being harassed by soldiers in Mindanao, a spokesman for the military diocese said today.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines will not tolerate the violation of Sister Stella Matutina's rights, said Father Harly Flores, in an interview over Radyo Veritas.
Matutina, an anti-mining activist, said on the program that she has been targeted by the military who accused her of being a member of a communist rebel group.
She said the soldiers are targeting her because of her campaign against mining operations in Davao Oriental province.
"This happened already to Fr [Fausto] Tentorio," Matutina said.
Tentorio, an Italian missionary, was murdered last year allegedly for opposing mining operations in the area.
