Fishermen have set up a public fund to attempt to raise a six-million-dollar ransom demand for six kidnapped colleagues.
The fund, which is being supported by the Catholic Church, was launched on February 21 and has so far raised US$1,100.
Money collected is to be sent to a mediator to communicate with Somali pirates who took the six hostage last September.
