Archbishop Antonio Ledesma of Cagayan de Oro has urged Catholics to be more active in climate change mitigation programs.
"It is important for the public to understand and acquire enough information on how to alleviate the worsening greenhouse gas emission that contributes to global warming," said the prelate in an interview with Radio Veritas on July 13.
Archbishop Ledesma, chairman of the Climate Change Congress of the Philippines, said Filipinos should always be ready especially with the onset of the rainy season.
"We need to understand the danger and inform the public about it. We also need to act to change this situation," he said.
The archbishop said the best way to lessen the effect of climate change is "to protect the environment from further destruction."
