A Catholic school in rural northwestern Bangladesh has come with an idea to promote the government’s digital Bangladesh initiative via a science fair. Some 250km from Dhaka St. Louis High School at Boraigram sub-district of Natore district organized a science fair focusing on the concept of digitization and promoting science education for rural students. 150 students from four Catholic high schools in the area visited the 30-stall fair on March 31. Caritas Bangladesh Rajshahi regional office financed the fair. Besides conventional agricultural, physics, chemistry, biology and geography projects the fair included digital education stalls that helped them comprehend concepts of digitization, how to use internet and e-mail, get necessary information from internet. ‘Vision 2021’, presented by the government, prioritizes digitization of all public institutions and e-governance system in all spheres of public life. The initiative is targeted to be achieved by 2021, the year of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh independence. BA13826.1647
