Church forms alliance against RH bill

January 21, 2011

PHILIPPINES: Despite President Benigno Aquino III’s efforts to forge a compromise deal, Catholic Church officials in the Philippines are not letting their guard down on the pending reproductive health (RH)bill.

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra has announced the creation of a new movement called the Citizens Alliance for the Protection of Human Life to actively campaign against the measure.

The prelate, and honorary chairman of the alliance, said he is not ruling out street protests, adding it is a campaign “that will continue beyond our opposition to the RH bill.”
