Catholic bishops have announced a break from tradition during this month’s Lent by expanding an evangelization drive to Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Featuring teachings on reflection and social action as well as a collection box to raise money, the drive – dubbed Alay Kapwa – kicks off in Caceres Archdiocese in southern Luzon on February 13, Catarman diocese in the Visayas on February 15 and Digos diocese in Mindanao on February 20.
In the past, each of these three regions has rotated Lent evangelization drives on a three-year cycle.
“The program’s promotion and campaign can be widened and strengthened in a shorter time,” said Bishop Broderick Pabillo, head of the social action secretariat of the bishop’s conference, on Wednesday.
