Bishops' help sought for development drive
The program, called the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Indonesia’s Economic Development (MP3EI), began in May last year and is aimed at achieving high, balanced, fair and sustainable economic growth across the country.
“In order to make the program a success, the government, of course, cannot work alone. We need support and must build
cooperation with all prominent leaders in this region, including bishops,” Fransiskus Lebu Raya said yesterday during a meeting with the bishops in Kupang, the provincial capital.
According to Raya, cooperation between local government and the diocesan commissions for socio-economic development should be tightened.
“This includes organizing groups of poor and marginalized people,” he said.
