The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has ordered Belgian Bishop Roger Vangheluwe, who admitted abusing his nephew, to leave the country for spiritual and psychological counselling.
The Vatican said Tuesday that Vangheluwe is also being sanctioned, and not being allowed to work as a priest or bishop, NewsOK reports.
Pope Benedict will decide his fate, basing a punishment on the diagnosis and prognosis of his treatment.
Still technically a priest, Vangheluwe is not allowed to celebrate Mass publicly.
