New cathedral consecrated in South Korea

South Korea's Daegu Archdiocese has consecrated Beomeo Cathedral, a new cathedral on May 22.

"Now I wish Beomeo Cathedral to be a place for our faithful to listen to the voice of God and to lead their religious lives," he told the 3,000 Catholics attending the Mass for the new consecration of the new cathedral. A further 6,000 Catholics watched the proceedings via television at Francis Chapel and Demange Hall nearby.

Among the other bishops attending the Mass were Archbishop Osvaldo Padilla, apostolic nuncio to Korea, Cardinal Andrew Yeom Soo-jung of Seoul, retired Archbishop Paul Ri Moun-hi of Daegu.
