March 22 is World Water Day – a day when we can remind ourselves what an immensely precious resource it is. In some parts of the world we take fresh supplies for granted, but in many others we cannot. These pictures show the struggles that people of Vietnam face on a daily basis.

This woman in the Mekong Delta is carrying fresh water back from her neighbors. It’s a long walk but her alternative is to pay 70,000 dong (US$3.50) per litre, which she simply can’t afford.
