The men who go to hell every day
For hundreds of families in East Java, life presents two unappealing alternatives: either risk their health through constant exposure to lethal sulfur gas, or have no reliable source of income.

Every day about 400 hundred sulfur miners face the suffocating gas and deadly surroundings of the Mount Ijen volcano. Starting at dawn, they climb in and out of the crater, carrying 60-70 kilos of sulfur on their shoulders to the warehouse.
