‘Apologise to priest,’ say officials
Election officials have asked income-tax authorities in Goa to apologise to a parish priest for conducting a raid on him on the basis of false information.
District election officer Sandip Jacques wrote that it was “appropriate” that officials should tender an apology to Father Roman Gonsalves, parish priest of St Francis Xavier Church at Velim, for the raid on February 6.
The letter, following parishioners’ protests, also an informant of “non-credible information” should be traced and appropriate action be taken against him or her.
