Musicians, activists launch awareness campaign
Musicians and human rights activists launched an awareness campaign on Sunday aimed at exposing the “the authorities’ violence” which they claim has destroyed the social order in Indonesia.
Glenn Fredly Deviano Latuihamallo, a popular singer from Ambon in Maluku, said the approach the government took to deal with problems faced by people living in the eastern parts of the country was dominated by repressive actions from the security forces.
“It is time for the government to replace that with a more human approach, which is based on local cultures and wisdoms,” he said during the launch held in a mall in Senayan, South Jakarta.
