Cathedral marks anniversary
The Cathedral Church of Resurrection celebrated its 125th anniversary today with a mass also marking the feast of conversion of St. Paul and the conclusion of Christian unity week.
“It’s a threefold joy”, said Church of Pakistan Bishop Alexander John Malik of Lahore as he prayed for peace and prosperity of the country.
English missionary Thomas Valpy French, the first Bishop of Lahore, consecrated the building in 1887. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles visited the Cathedral, in 1953 and 2006 respectively.
Eight bishops have served in the diocese, which is presently running more than 30 schools.
