Cardinal leads anniversary celebrations
About 1,000 faithful attended a solemn Mass officiated by Bishop John Tong Hon at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception yesterday to celebrate anniversaries of 42 clergy and Religious and the feast of the patron saint of the Hong Kong diocese.
The tradition to commemorate and thank the contributions of clerics and consecrated persons on this day was initiated by the late Cardinal Wu Cheng-chung, said Cardinal Joseph Zen in his homily.
The retired bishop, celebrating the 50th anniversary of his priesthood, compared all clerics’ and consecrated persons’ devotion to God to the “best-supporting actor” role of the Blessed Mother in Jesus’ Salvation.
