Opponents ‘win’ health vote delay
Opponents of a controversial reproductive health bill yesterday expressed relief after Congress shelved deliberations in both chambers ahead of a month-long break that begins tomorrow.
Eric Manlang, president of the Pro-life Philippines Foundation, said the move should be considered a win for opponents of the bill.
“Any time that it is delayed, it is a win for us. The people, especially pro-life people whether they are Catholic or not, are also learning about why the RH bill is not good for Filipinos.”
Senator Pia Cayetano, a principal sponsor of the Senate version of the bill, appealed to colleagues to end the debates and start voting when sessions resume next month.
