Father Servasius I Nyoman Subhaga SVD explained that the church built on an area of 3700 square meters is not a mere solid building. The Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church is designed through a deep philosophy.
“Everything refers to the philosophy of Asta Kosala Kosali (Hindu philosophy), which is highly appreciated trough the Balinese architecture and a reference architecture and layout of buildings in Bali. It also adopts the philosophy of Tri Mandala (three Balinese concepts on Balinese building layout),” he said.
(Church-goers) of the Jesus the Good Shepherd Church would grasp the symbolism that praying to God resembles to the event of mountain hiking. Moreover, they would also feel that God greets them through Christian symbols cotained in Balinese arts and culture.
“We want to combine art, culture, custom and language to the fullest. That’s how the church originates,” he said further.
