Youth called to promote peace
An international seminar for Christian youths has highlighted the necessity of dialogue in a multi-cultural and multi-religious world to promote peace, justice and human rights.
The two-week seminar called “Dialogue in Diversity,” which ends on Sunday, was organized by the Interfaith Cooperation Forum (ICF) and hosted by the National Council of YMCAs in Bangladesh.
The program at the YMCA Training Center in Savar Sub-district, 24 kilometers north of Dhaka, has drawn 30 participants from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Britain, Indonesia, the United States and Hong Kong.
ICF coordinator Max Ediger said people need to know at early age about the need to work for peace in order to make it harder for extremism to take a hold of them.
“The world badly needs peace, justice and human rights to prevail. The next generations have to realize this and work towards preserving them,” he said.
