Human resource managers have praised a job fair organized by Jakarta archdiocese, with many saying they were able to find a large number of recruits. The two-day fair at the Catholic University of Atma Jaya, which ended yesterday and was entitled Let Us Share, saw 87 companies participate. “I am optimistic that there will be many candidates who can be recruited. Those who attended the fair really need jobs,” said Prasetyo Nurhardjanto, of electronic communication outlet, PT Dragon Computer and Communications. “We are opening 16 new branches across Indonesia, and there are 29 vacancies. We think we found about half the people we need at this event,” he said. He said the fair was better than placing advertisements in newspapers because “it wasn’t as costly and we got to meet potential candidates.” The archdiocese began the fair in 2009, and organizes it in association with the Community of Catholic Young Workers. Ianti Tadius of financial services firm, Mega Finance, also said meeting potential candidates was very beneficial. “We saw many jobseekers,” she said, adding that her company offered 13 people work during the fair. Diana Salim found 15 new workers for her firm at the fair, however she did have one complaint. “This is multi-cultural and multi-faith nation. It seems like only Christian candidates came to the fair,” she said. Bernadeth Inggrid Rundengan, coordinator of the organizing committee, said the fair aimed to serve as a bridge between companies and jobseekers. Judging by the number of jobs offered it looks like it was a success, said the KKMK member and parishioner at St. Joseph Church in Matraman.
