Rome correspondent for ucanews.com C.M. Paul is one of four Asians who attended a groundbreaking meeting of Catholic bloggers called by the Vatican yesterday. The meeting was called by Pontifical Council for Social Communications as a forum for discussion between bloggers and Church representatives. The president of the PCCS, Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, said the main point of the meet was for those attending to get to know one another. "It is not a meeting of the Catholic bloggers and new media practitioners," he said. "But is an occasion, as Pope Benedict XVI said, to start a 'respectful dialogue of other people’s truths'. "We are here to promote faith and dialogue with all cultures. That is why two Pontifical Councils of Culture & Communication came forward to organize this meeting." Beside C.M. Paul, the Asians at the meeting were Sri Lankan Father David Ratnarajh, who blogs in Tamil while doing master's in spirituality at Angelicum Rome, Indonesian Father Alfonsus Widhiwryawan, studying for a master's in spirituality from Gregroianum Rome who has his bi-lingual blog in Italian and English and Father Louie Rivera Coronel from Manila pursuing a master's in Church History at the Gregorianum University Rome. C.M. Paul, who at the Salesian University Rome pursuing a PhD programme in the Social Communications faculty, maintains his blog, NewsGrab, here, which contains a detailed account of the Vatican blogging meet.

Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
