University starts ‘resource center’ for poor

A Catholic university in the southern Philippines has begun a micro-insurance scheme for the poor in Mindanao.
Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) in association with the German Society for International Cooperation (GiZ), has launched the “Micro-Insurance Resource Center” to provide affordable insurance to small farmers, artisans and traders.
It becomes the first and the only micro-insurance resource center in Mindanao.
The center will serve as a platform for public and private insurance providers and stakeholders seeking to help enhance the poor’s access to financial protection.
