Incheon course inspires faithful to live the Gospel

Incheon diocese will launch a new series of courses on Catholic social teaching this month.
The new course, which will be the fifth in a series which started in 2006, will focus on inspiring the faithful to live the Gospel.
Bishop John Baptist Jung Shin-chul of Incheon will deliver the first lecture in the course organized by the diocese’s Committee for Justice and Peace on the “Value of the World and Faithful”.
This year’s course, which will run from Sept. 13 to Nov. 22., will deal with history of the Church, the values of peace, and being human.
“We focused more on the Church documents in previous years but participants seemed to find it difficult to learn,” Catherine Nam Hee-hyun, an organizer of the program, told ucanews.com.
“So we have changed the course to include various lecture themes,” she explained.
“Laypeople have more interest in this year’s themes which reflect their lives according to the Church teachings,” Nam believes.
The annual program aims to guide the faithful to practice the Church’s social teachings in their concrete life.
According to the organizing committee, a total of 200 people completed previous courses. As of Sept. 1, 65 had applied for this year’s course.
