The following information can be added to the end of the report:
Sunil Shrestha, communications assistant at Caritas-Nepal, the local Church´s social-service agency, told UCA News on Jan. 16 that local Caritas operations have been severely affected due to the power cuts.
“We have a back-up power supply but it does not work for more than two hours since the batteries do not get fully charged due to the long hours of power outage,” he said. He added that the power outage at times has even left Caritas with no phone service because it is carried over Internet protocol network servers.
