Bishop Sharma told UCA News on July 2 that "indications" are it was a "personal vendetta" that led the attackers to kill Father Prakash, not an attack on the Catholic Church in Nepal.

"Had it been an attack on the Church, the other priest who was at the priests' residence when the incident happened and the Congregation of Jesus sisters who also live there would also have been attacked," he said.

"Maybe the priest was killed for not obeying the orders of the NDA to attend what they called a common meeting very recently, or the priest did not pay the NDA the money they had demanded," he added.
